Healthy Eating The Right Way

Healthy Eating The Right Way

A balanced healthy lifestyle is important when it comes to having healthy skin and a healthy body!

Everyone has their own way of doing things and that is perfectly OK, no one is to judge whether you eat a certain piece of fruit or have carrot smoothies. We are all different, but I would love to share a few things that I like to enjoy and I admit, I need to do more often!

Incorporating certain things into your diet, like Oatmeal, Fruit high in antioxidants are wonderful for your body, and regular exercise!

Whenever you feel like you are craving sugar, reach over for a piece of fruit. Fruit has the natural sugars we need to replenish our bodies and are healthier for you than an Oreo! Make yourself a fresh fruit salad! Also, better yet, put some fruit in your water! Not only will it naturally flavour your water, it will also help you get the recommended dose of H2O!

Oatmeal is a great start to the day. It has the power to fill your stomach up quickly so you can portion your meals better. Also, oatmeal is fantastic in your yogurt and adding fruit makes it more enjoyable.

Aslong as you are getting the recommended fibre intake in a day then you will feel so much better as the day goes on.

Exercise is a huge lifestyle must! Whether it is a long extensive walk or a 5km run ride, your body will thank you from the inside out!

The reason I chose to do a lifestyle article is because everything we do with our body and what we put into it, shows up on our skin. If you are putting damaging ingredients or have an unhealthy lifestyle, it will show. Your skin will look dull, uneven skin tone, lack of a healthy glow and your body will feel sluggish.

Schedule a month session for yoga classes or dedicate and commit yourself to the gym! After a month of a lifestyle change you are guaranteed to see results. If it helps to make a chart for each day of the week to stay organized, then do that! The more you are committed to something, the more willingness you have to staying honest with a routine.

Controlling Blemishes and Breakouts

Ever wake up in the morning and find that you have developed a blemish that came at the wrong time?

What about one that has decided to say hello an hour or two before a big night?

Well don't worry there are a few products that can help you with those SOS moments we encounter from time to time.

Make sure you are cleansing your face correctly and thoroughly because even the slightest amount of make up still left on your skin could cause a pore to develop a blemish. So double cleansing is a good idea.

Clinique Spot Healing Gel

Fast drying gel that helps reduce the redness associated with the acne blemish as well as promotes healing. It is a clear, invisible gel that can be used under your make up or over your make up. Gentleman can use this product as well and is good for all skin types. The best way I have used this, is at night time after my cleansing routine. The benefits of doing it at night when your skin is regenerating with help the product deliver fast results during the skins resting period.

Shiseido Pureness Blemish Clearing Gel

Quick absorbing gel that helps minimize the appearance of blemishes and purifies and balances the skin. Salicylic Acid is formulated in this gel because it helps calm and soothe the epidermal layers and stops the formation of future breakouts. It is for all skin types and is non- comedogenic.

Clarins Blemish Control

This is a targeted blemish control formula that has Witch Hazel, White Nettle and Wintergreen ingredients in this solution that helps with imperfections and soothes the skin's surface. Clarins focuses on natural properties on all of their products and this one is particularly in my purse on a regular basis because you never know when a blemish will arise and with the easy applicator ball the product goes on clear and quickly absorbs so you can get on with your daily routine.

Overall, you will eventually find a product that works better than another so you just have to be open to try them all. Check out the websites for more information and remember to always cleanse your skin at least twice a day, morning and night.

Secrets To An Even Complexion

Oh the dreaded areas on our face that either are red patches, dark spots, pigmentation and those difficult memories of a young teenager.

Some days you just feel like throwing your hands up and giving up! But wait! You can control the issues and feel better about yourself in no time. It's all about patience and realizing that overnight it isn't going to go away, it will take some time.

Learning about your skin and finding out the problems causing these issues will help you figure out how to control them. Whether it is a change in diet, exercise, puberty, stress, or just elements of mother nature, you can get your skin into a routine and you will notice a difference in no time.

With all the technology changes and advance techniques you can use today to slow aging, clear skin, inject your skin with Botox, and lasers touching your skin, people seem to think that is the only way to change things. But really and truly it is far from the truth. We are meant to age so slowing it down with only make it worse later on for you in your life.

A safe way to even out your complexion would be to exfoliate 2-3 times a week, there are moisturizers out there with dark spot correctors in them. (Clinique-Dark Spot Correcting Moisturizer with SPF 15) And they work if you use them everyday. Always use a moisturizer with a SPF in it, you will thank it later in life when your skin thins out.

Another tip for you: TANNING BEDS WILL MAKE IT WORSE! Don't use them to even out your skin tone! Yes it may seem like your skin is even and looking nice and "toasted" but again Tanning Beds cause pigmentation and can lead to skin cancer, it is kind of an oxymoron. You are preventing something that may not be preventable later on, years down the road.

The best way to help yourself is to develop a routine and follow it for at least a 75-90 days. There are things in everyday life that we can not change and only accept them for what they are. Just be aware of the dark spots or marks on your face and don't be afraid to talk to your Dermatologist about any concerns.

If you need your daily dose of Vitamin D, take a tablet or spend time outside. But protect yourself. SPF with UVA/UVB will protect you. Just be aware. We all love to be outside in the nice warm sun shining down on us and that is Ok. There is nothing wrong with it! I would never say become a "Hermit" because life would really bring you down if you weren't allowed to leave the house because you are afraid of the sun.

The best thing I have been taught about my skin is that, yes I had horrible pigmentation under the layers of my skin and it would eventually show by the age of 30. Which I wasn't aware of the amount until I was under a blue light for the first time in my life. And I couldn't believe what was under the layers of my skin. But I caught it early and changed my routine and slowed down the process of developing more pigmentation and dark spots. Awareness is key and if you are not afraid to learn what your body and skin are going through then its a great sign of catching things before you are too late.

Enjoy!

Is There A Benefit To Alcohol In Products?

Everyone has their favourite toning solution as part of their skin care routine. But are you aware of some of the effects you will encounter by having alcohol in your toning solutions?

What about the awareness of what alcohol actually does to your skin, in terms of regenerating the skin's epidermis?

Let's start off with why it is important for you to use a toning solution after you cleanse your face.

It is very important to use a toning solution because once you wash your face and remove the elements of the day (eg. make-up  pollution, dirt, debris, oils etc. ) you need to replenish the moisture that has been lost due to the cleansing of the face. You need to bring your skin's pH levels back to normal in order for your skin to get the healthy complexion and clear skin.

The reason we need to keep the moisture levels at par, are in fact, going to slow the production of wrinkles and slow the ageing process. Also, 70% of wrinkles are due to sun damage and not taking the proper steps to help block the sun's rays from our faces and bodies.

Which brings me to the reasoning why you shouldn't use a toning solution with alcohol in it.

Alcohol is a very drying solution and you are applying that to your face after you have stripped the skin of it's natural oils by washing it. You are not replacing the moisture that has been lost you are just stripping the skin of the layers and causing the skin to become more dry, which will lead to the opposite effects you truly wanted.

Invest in an alcohol- free toning solution because those have moisturising ingredients incorporated into them. Whether the ingredients are natural plant extracts or natural/organic fruit extracts, those are the best ingredients for your skin that will help with healing and replenishing the moisture loss.

Next time you are looking to invest in a skincare line, pay close attention to details. Check the ingredients that you are going to be putting on your skin. Keep an open mind!
