Oh the dreaded areas on our face that either are red patches, dark spots, pigmentation and those difficult memories of a young teenager.
Some days you just feel like throwing your hands up and giving up! But wait! You can control the issues and feel better about yourself in no time. It's all about patience and realizing that overnight it isn't going to go away, it will take some time.
Learning about your skin and finding out the problems causing these issues will help you figure out how to control them. Whether it is a change in diet, exercise, puberty, stress, or just elements of mother nature, you can get your skin into a routine and you will notice a difference in no time.
With all the technology changes and advance techniques you can use today to slow aging, clear skin, inject your skin with Botox, and lasers touching your skin, people seem to think that is the only way to change things. But really and truly it is far from the truth. We are meant to age so slowing it down with only make it worse later on for you in your life.
A safe way to even out your complexion would be to exfoliate 2-3 times a week, there are moisturizers out there with dark spot correctors in them. (Clinique-Dark Spot Correcting Moisturizer with SPF 15) And they work if you use them everyday. Always use a moisturizer with a SPF in it, you will thank it later in life when your skin thins out.
Another tip for you: TANNING BEDS WILL MAKE IT WORSE! Don't use them to even out your skin tone! Yes it may seem like your skin is even and looking nice and "toasted" but again Tanning Beds cause pigmentation and can lead to skin cancer, it is kind of an oxymoron. You are preventing something that may not be preventable later on, years down the road.
The best way to help yourself is to develop a routine and follow it for at least a 75-90 days. There are things in everyday life that we can not change and only accept them for what they are. Just be aware of the dark spots or marks on your face and don't be afraid to talk to your Dermatologist about any concerns.
If you need your daily dose of Vitamin D, take a tablet or spend time outside. But protect yourself. SPF with UVA/UVB will protect you. Just be aware. We all love to be outside in the nice warm sun shining down on us and that is Ok. There is nothing wrong with it! I would never say become a "Hermit" because life would really bring you down if you weren't allowed to leave the house because you are afraid of the sun.
The best thing I have been taught about my skin is that, yes I had horrible pigmentation under the layers of my skin and it would eventually show by the age of 30. Which I wasn't aware of the amount until I was under a blue light for the first time in my life. And I couldn't believe what was under the layers of my skin. But I caught it early and changed my routine and slowed down the process of developing more pigmentation and dark spots. Awareness is key and if you are not afraid to learn what your body and skin are going through then its a great sign of catching things before you are too late.

Is There A Benefit To Alcohol In Products?
Everyone has their favourite toning solution as part of their skin care routine. But are you aware of some of the effects you will encounter by having alcohol in your toning solutions?

What about the awareness of what alcohol actually does to your skin, in terms of regenerating the skin's epidermis?
Let's start off with why it is important for you to use a toning solution after you cleanse your face.
It is very important to use a toning solution because once you wash your face and remove the elements of the day (eg. make-up pollution, dirt, debris, oils etc. ) you need to replenish the moisture that has been lost due to the cleansing of the face. You need to bring your skin's pH levels back to normal in order for your skin to get the healthy complexion and clear skin.
The reason we need to keep the moisture levels at par, are in fact, going to slow the production of wrinkles and slow the ageing process. Also, 70% of wrinkles are due to sun damage and not taking the proper steps to help block the sun's rays from our faces and bodies.
Which brings me to the reasoning why you shouldn't use a toning solution with alcohol in it.
Alcohol is a very drying solution and you are applying that to your face after you have stripped the skin of it's natural oils by washing it. You are not replacing the moisture that has been lost you are just stripping the skin of the layers and causing the skin to become more dry, which will lead to the opposite effects you truly wanted.
Invest in an alcohol- free toning solution because those have moisturising ingredients incorporated into them. Whether the ingredients are natural plant extracts or natural/organic fruit extracts, those are the best ingredients for your skin that will help with healing and replenishing the moisture loss.
Next time you are looking to invest in a skincare line, pay close attention to details. Check the ingredients that you are going to be putting on your skin. Keep an open mind!

Skin Care and Cosmetics Time Frame
|
||
Item
|
Time Frame
|
Reasoning
|
Moisturisers
|
6-8 Months
|
·
The continuation of opening and closing the product
allows oxygen to enter the container and which shifts the relationship
between the ingredients
·
Natural face oils can be transferred into the
skin care which could allow the benefits to diminish over time
·
Ingredients don’t last forever in a product and
if used longer than allowed, you could develop a reaction to the ingredients
that have expired.
|
Eye Liners
|
3-6 Months
|
·
Whether they are self sharpened or manual
sharpened liners you need to replace these more often because our eyes are
one part of the face that carry bacteria
·
If you have had an eye infection, you need to
replace your pencil right away and not use anything until the infection is
gone
·
Temperature change could pose a threat to your
pencil as well as it causes the pencil (if manual sharpened) to break and won’t
be any good.
|
Mascara
|
4-6 Months
|
·
Very important to change this item regularly
because this is the closest product that gets to your eye
·
Same as above with the eyeliners, you need to be
aware if you have had infections you need to change it right away
·
NEVER share mascara
·
You will notice that the product will become more
clumped and dry and there will be a smell to the turning of the product. That’s
how you know it is time to replace it
·
Oxygen enters the cylinder and that is what
changes the product and causes the drying effect over time
|
Eye Shadows
|
Seasonal
|
·
Seasonal, your eye shadows should be changed
because they don’t last forever same as any other product
·
Over time, you will notice that with prolonged
use, the shadow will present an extra film on top and it would be hard to get
shadow onto the applicator and that is when it is time to change it.
·
Also, you will notice your shadow will be chalky
and falling apart, you need a new shadow
|
Sunscreen
|
Yearly
|
·
Pay close attention to this one in particular if
it is in your moisturisers because the life of your moisturiser won’t last as
long because the issues mentioned above stay the same.
·
Every summer you should have a new bottle or
sunscreen spray because the ingredients especially (Titanium Dioxide-which is
the sunscreen ingredient) shifts the product and separates over time
·
Reactions minor and major could occur and rashes
can form if you use a product with expired sunscreen in them
|

To get the best look and flawless approach to a daring look, stay neutral and highlight your best features!
Whether it is your cheek bones or your amazing eyebrow arch or even your voluptuous lips, playing off your best features will have everyone staring! Start with a tinted moisturizer that is the perfect colour match for your skin, then apply a loose powder to set your make up and give you that matte finish.
Next, apply a bronzer to your brow bone, cheek bones, and chin. That will give you a glow in all the right places that the light hits. Make sure you keep in mind that blending is the best thing you can do when it comes to application.
Then focus on your eyes. If you want to make your eyes sultry and the focal point, make them stand out to the point that people won't be able to look away when they see you. Just blend colors together and find a technique that works for you!
Lastly, your blush should give you that fresh glow. You always look fresh with rosy cheeks, so play with color and find out a few shades and experiment!

Something To Pout About!
Something To Pout About! by katurahali featuring Clarins
Kissable lips, soft and voluptious, are all words we want our lips to feel like. My favourite treat to pamper my pretty pout is exfoliating and nourishing.
Choose a sugar lip scrub, whether it tastes like fruit or vanilla, it will benefit you as well as your sweetheart! Always keeping your lips hydrated especially in the different climates, will keep them from aging as well.
My top three lip treatments are:
1. Clarins Extra Firming Lip and Contour Balm- $45.00
I absolutely fell in love with this product after I needed some quick fix for my horrible dry and flaking lips. This balm works well with lessing the aging lines that appear on our lips as we age and it also helped with any lines around my lips. It has Raspberry Seed Oil and Shea Butter which helps replenish and hydrate. Your lips will appear fuller, younger and defined with continued use.
2. Clarins Hydra-Quench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm- $27.00
This balm helps with severely dry, chapped lips. This reparative balm helps heal your dry, chapped lips, as well as those lips that have had the effects of weather related dryness. Rose wax to help replenish the lips back to healthy state and the hydration is pure so it is equiviant to a glass of water but just for your lips.
3. Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment- $18.00
With the rich emollients in this treatment, it will help with distressed lips as well as hydrate and nourish those chapped lips. This is good for everyday use, morning and night. It works for most individuals.
Overall, as long as you are buffing off the dead and dry skin cells, you can reveal your best pout yet. Find what works for you and enjoy the pampering treatments for your lips. Those you kiss, will love it too.

Browsing With Expression
Bushy, thick, thin, those are just some of the descriptive words that we say when describing our eyebrows. Whether you are trying the thin brow look or you are letting them grow fuller, we have all, at some point disliked the shape or have had a bad experience at the salon when "cleaning them up".
To get that amazing arch and full "perfect" brow, it takes time and patience, especially after a few bad experiences. Once you work your brows into the shape you love all that is left is just detailing with an eyebrow shaper or a pencil.
When choosing a color, always go with either a neutral shade or the natural color of your hair. Don't press hard on your brow, because you want to gradually fill in your brow with light movements.
A couple options from a few product lines are; Shiseido and Lancôme.
The defining brush makes it easier to detail the brow and get the best shape possible. It comes in three different shades from dark brown, medium brown and light brown. It is great to use wet or dry, depends on the look you are trying to achieve.

| Lancôme Eyebrow Pencil, $29, Sears, The Bay |
Lancôme Eyebrow pencils are easy to use and can be thrown in your purse for those times at the office or a fun night out, you can easily apply the color fast and effectively. One end of the pencil has a groomer for those unruly brows that don't want to cooperate and it makes it easier to spread the color.
So go on out there and raise a few brows and find what works for you and be bold and daring! Just think how many heads will turn and you will be glad you did!
